October Dachshund Meetup at our house
We had our second Omaha Dachshund Meetup group at our house on Saturday. We had perfect weather and a huge turnout. There were 60+ people and it was impossible to count dogs…but I would estimate 70.
There was only one glitch. I had bought a new roaster for cooking the hotdogs. When I turned it on, there was some wicked smelling white smoke creeping out of the seams. It smelled like burned wires or something. It was stinking up the whole house. So, Bob carried it outside and set it on the air conditioner to keep it off the ground (away from the dogs, as it was hot) A half hour later, the water was still lukewarm. CRAP! I was stressing out a bit….ok, a lot. I had over 100 hot dogs in there and 60 people to feed! What was I going to do? Bob’s mom showed up and offered to run home and get hers. I was still stressed out about the timing. sigh…. It all worked out in the end.
We received some good feedback about some things we could do to improve our next gathering….a greeter at the gate to welcome people and tell them what’s going on. Nametags - put your name and your dog’s name on your nametag.
I didnt have time to take a ton of pics, but I got a few -
